Those little symbols on your clothing tags aren’t just there to be ignored — they’re the manufacturer’s own instructions for keeping a garment looking its best for as long as possible.
The wash tub
A plain tub means machine washable. A number inside is the maximum water temperature in Celsius. A tub with a hand inside means hand wash only, and a crossed-out tub means don’t wash it at all — dry clean instead.
The triangle
This is the bleach symbol. Empty means any bleach is fine, diagonal lines mean non-chlorine bleach only, and a crossed-out triangle means no bleach, period.
The square
Drying instructions. A circle inside means tumble dry is fine, dots inside the circle indicate heat level (one dot = low, more dots = higher heat), and a crossed-out square means air dry only.
The iron
Dots again indicate temperature. A crossed-out iron means don’t iron this piece at all — common on anything with sequins, foil print or certain synthetics.
