How Often Should You Wash Your Towels and Bed Sheets?

← Back to Blog

Bed sheets and towels quietly do a lot of work — absorbing sweat, oils and everyday bacteria — so it’s worth being deliberate about how often they get washed.

Bed sheets: every 1–2 weeks

A weekly wash is a good default, especially if you sleep without pyjamas, have allergies, or share your bed with a pet. Every two weeks is reasonable if none of that applies to you.

Towels: every 3–4 uses

A towel that hangs to dry properly between uses can go three or four uses before it needs a wash. Damp towels left balled up should be washed sooner — that’s exactly the environment mildew likes.

Pillowcases: weekly

Pillowcases sit against your face and hair every night, so they benefit from a weekly refresh even if your top sheet goes longer between washes.
